The Genesis of Gold

Although the gold has been categorized as a jealous magnet, the attention of many civilizations around the world was focused on try to get it because its beauty and value give power. This idea has been in the brain of many men for more than 5000 years.

The term gold comes from the Anglo-Saxon idiom; the word apparently was taken from the Teutonic word gulth that means shining. With the time, the Latin term of gold was aurum and this word has been adopted in chemical nomenclature to mention many compounds made with gold. Basic ally, gold salts are referred as aurous or auric according to the gold oxidation state.

With the years was possible to identify different roots. The word aurum is the most known is can be compared with the roman words aurora or ausosa. A German word called goud is related to gold and this word means yellow. The Slavic, Altaic and Afro-Asiatic words have a relationship with the word gold. No matter how old is the word or its origin, the humanity for many years adopted the word gold to make reference something special and this characteristic was adopted in the modern word.
